P30 Pro released back in April and has received consistent updates from Huawei since.
Some of the most notable upgrades delivered to the flagship since launch include the ability to view notifications on its always-on display, improved fingerprint scanning and more.
Huawei recently started rolling out EMUI version 18.104.22.168 to the P30 Pro – the new software brings the Android August 2019 security patch to the handset.
On its Android Security Bulletin, Google has emphasised the August patch introduces remedies for a number of software vulnerabilities that are “high” and “critical” in severity.
Not only does the latest Huawei update include the vital security software, but it also introduces a notable new feature for the P30 Pro, too.
In the changelog for the Huawei software, it was noted EMUI 22.214.171.124 brings a “night mode to the front camera”.
The P30 Pro’s rear camera system is renowned for its night mode that allows users to take bright and detailed snaps when light is scarce.
The feature requires users to hold their phone still for around six-seconds while the device takes a number of different photos at varying exposures before it stitches them all together.
Express.co.uk has tested the new Huawei update and can confirm the night mode on the phone’s front does not work in the same manner as its rear.
Instead, the device’s screen turns white and seemingly attempts to recreate a similar effect to a traditional flash.
Overall, the feature works well but is certainly not as effective as the night mode for the P30 Pro’s rear cameras that harnesses powerful software to produce a final image.
Finally, the update was also said to introduce a video editing function to Huawei’s Gallery app.
Huawei’s latest P30 Pro upgrade is available to download right now.
If owners have not received a notification alerting them to it, the update can be obtained manually by heading to Settings > System > Software update.
